The Gibson J-50 Acoustic ’50s Original is proudly presented by Gibson Guitar. The legendary Gibson J-50, manufactured by Gibson’s expert luthiers with a stunning Antique Natural Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides accented by a distinctive ’50s-style tortoise pickguard. For greater acoustic and amplified tone at home, onstage, and in the studio, this Original Collection J-50 has a larger 1.725″ nut and an LR Baggs VTC pickup.
The LR Baggs VTC acoustic pickup system is standard on the Gibson J-50 Acoustic Original. This system includes a low-profile under-saddle transducer that has been shown to be more stable and robust than many typical ribbon-type pickups. Its streamlined and effective design eliminates extraneous internal components to increase pickup-to-guitar coupling and transducer sensitivity for a powerful, energetic, and genuine acoustic sound with superb dynamics and delicate high end. The VTC, when combined with an inbuilt preamplifier and an unobtrusive and removable volume control located just within the soundhole, provides a pure-sounding amplification presence to your J-50.
Gibson’s reputation as a master manufacturer of exquisite guitars extends back to the late 1800s. Gibson acoustic guitars have inspired countless players throughout the world since their inception by some of the most experienced luthiers in the world. When you buy a Gibson acoustic, you know you’re receiving the best tonewoods, hardware, and attention to detail. These instruments are designed to sound fantastic and last a long time. After transferring their acoustic business from Kalamazoo, Michigan to Nashville, Tennessee (where Gibson electric guitars are still built), Gibson finally landed in Bozeman, Montana, where they continue to make some of the finest guitars on the globe. Gibson Guitar is happy to offer you such a remarkable selection of musical instruments.
